]]> Today I want to share with you my most recent maternity photo into painting. This project was extremely fun to do and looks great on our 16×20 canvas stretcher bar. Using Corel Painter I was able to combine acrylic, oil, charcoal, water color and various textures to achieve a beautiful and unique piece of wall art.

Maternity photography is fast becoming a must have in documenting those special one of a kind moments. I rate the importance of maternity photography right alongside wedding and newborn photography. I had a blast painting this beautiful baby. The original image offered itself quite well to becoming a high-key watercolor portrait. The light flowing background and sweet angelic face of the baby called for this soft airy style. The final image was produced on our 16 x 20 Fine Art Paper to both complement and complete the watercolor look and feel.

New Contest: What style of painting would you like me to create for you?

Welcome everyone! Today is the start of Photo Into Painting’s first online contest. One lucky winner will receive a finished .jpg file of a digital watercolor or digital oil portrait created from their photo. The file will be optimized for an 11×14 print size.

I am giving one lucky winner unrestricted non-commercial rights to use my digital work however they like! What does that gobbly goop mean, you ask? Simply put, you may make copies at your favorite lab or print shop, share it across the web and allow your friends and family to make copies, too! As long as the person using the file does not make money from it, then anything is game. The finished file and rights usage is valued at $1,035.00 (note: I do not normally release my files.) So good luck and check out the contest rules below:

  • All you have to do to enter is leave a comment about what style and print type you like.
  • Only comment once.
  • 1 winner will be randomly chosen and will receive a finished .jpg of a digital watercolor portrait or digital oil portrait valued at $1,035.00.
  • Comments will remain open until Friday, August 14th.
